Baby Wall Decals
Baby wall decals are the last thing on your mind. You’ve just
been through an obscene amount of pain welcoming a new little person into your home and there are too many things
to deal with. Between writing thank you notes for all those gifts, trying to listen to your pesky mother in law
(who was in labor for 20 million hours you know) and simply trying to maintain your sanity you don’t care about
anything that isn’t feeding, dressing, washing or burping. You just don’t have the time.
As you slowly start to lose your mind and have only the joy of
seeing your little baby starting to grow and thrive, you begin to realize that there are other areas of your life
that are being neglected. Your home is just a place to house your little family and the nursery has become just a
room between nappies, laundry and the like. So how do you freshen things up and give your baby a bit of stimulation
at the same time? You add a wall decal.
You don’t want to have too much going on in their room when
babies are still small. They can become tired and over stimulated and you will find that this leads to irritation
(for both of you) and difficulty in getting that baby to relax, soothe itself and sleep. So you should start off
simple. A little bit of color is wonderful but try to be more neutral in the beginning. Then as your baby hits
three months you can begin to stretch the possibilities a bit. Add some more color as you see fit. By six months
you can go crazy!
The wonderful thing about wall decals is that they are
removable so it doesn’t matter if they get dirty or if you want to change the design to something a bit more age
appropriate as they grow. You can easily do that and move along with them as they start to develop and need
different types of environmental stimulation. Walltat have a great ‘Kids on swings’ decal for $69. It’s a
silhouette style decal and just adds a whimsical feeling to the room. It’s brown so it’s a good one to have in the
nursery unless your child is always itching to play. The walltat ‘Sleepy Bear’ detail is the same price and this
can be used for newborns and babies especially before the 3 month mark. It is very neutral and in the background
but it gives off such a comforting and loving feel.
The baby wall detail is a nice way to warm up a child’s nursery
and give it a sense of personality while you are waiting to meet the little person that inhabits that space. It
will provide a bit of stimulation and ultimately separate that room from the house. This is their space after all
and it should reflect them in contrast to what you are doing with the rest of the house. This also allows you to
stake some claim to your own adult area where you can exist without baby decals, nappies, and soft toys everywhere.
That distinction will help you remember that you need to nurture yourself and that is
invaluable.
